Blue shoes…

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Sunday…I took Arlin Jack to a new park, well, a new park for us over by Denver University. I figured I’d try and wear him out before I drug him to a fabric store with me. It kinda worked, however, getting sand in my boot wasn’t so much fun.

He was a little timid at first. All slides and steps were a little bigger than the parks we normally frequent.

Chad and I got the Captain some new shoes Saturday…he’s bumped up a size again…

lots of laughs…

Went to Harvard Gulch park this afternoon after the Captain woke up from his beauty rest. I was able to finish another card while he was napping so I figure we’d get out and enjoy the 65 degree weather, that and it’s so much easier these days to let the Captain loose outside. He’s been getting really honoree (sp?) when cooped up in the house. No joke today after lunch before the park I was washing the dishes and I turned my head for one minute and he climbed up onto his little table and had my orchid/vase off the window ledge…I about had a heart attack and some not so nice words for the Captain….you do NOT touch Mama’s orchid buddy…………….that’s a big NO..NO!

Weekend fun…

The Captain took his “eggies” to the window to eat and check out the snow…

dsc01389

Although it’s a “No,No…” to eat away from his little table, I could not resist this photo opportunity.

at the Denver Car Show, Saturday…

dsc01367

Papa and I had to finish our Starbucks before we could enter the show…So, we let the Captain explore a little and wear himself out…

Dinner party later Saturday at Alex and Lola’s. This is a picture of the kiddies; Salvador (10 mo.) Audrey (12 mo.) and Arlin Jack (18 mo-in two days!)

img_2191

Uh OH! The Captain was infatuated with Sal’s quad…Arlin was a terror on this thing- almost knocking over this picture wall! Papa says he needs one….?!

img_2190

What’s the speed limit?

img_2210

Sal had all kinds of new toys and gadgets for Arlin to admire.

img_2197

Guess which tot went to sleep first? Yep indeedy…Arlin Jackers. The eldest and first man down…7:30pm! Actually worked out well. We brought Arlin’s pack n’ play so the Captain could sleep when he tuckered out…and Mama and Papa could socialize and enjoy dinner with our friends- so nice!

March on!

Happy St. Patricks Day…(well almost)
dsc01125

Getting ready to get on the Light-rail by our house to go downtown Lodo to Union Station…What a frustrating venture. Chad got on the train after collapsing the stroller, while the train attendant told Stella, Arlin and I to walk around and board through the second car. Following his instructions, we walked all the way around the handicap ramp to board the train when all the sudden the train started to pull away??!!!

We were left behind! I was super irritated. And panicked for a minute thinking I didn’t have my phone or even house keys…till’ I realized Stella was holding my purse. Chad had to get off at the next stop and wait for us. This speed bump set us back a good 45 minutes from getting to the parade. Argh…and we were on time this morning too!

dsc01127

Stella on top of Papa’s shoulders to see some of the Parade…i love the monkey ears on her sweatshirt!

dsc01132

it turned out to be an awesome weather day..but Brrr it was chilly in the shade.

dsc01131

it only took us about half the parade to meet up with some friends…we failed at finding the Woefel’s at 17th and Blake?! So we walked a few more blocks to find Alex, Lola and Salvador…

dsc01134

Stella look! they painted the horses hoof’s sparkly green!

dsc01136

you could say this was a highlight of the parade… for Mama at least.

dsc01139

loved the car and the cute Grandma waving in the back seat!

dsc01133

Arlin got a kick out of the bag pipe dudes…

dsc01143

We met up with Mark and Jamie Polk at the tail end of the parade to have a few cold beers in the beer garden in front of Fado’s…

dsc01144

Mama totally got suckered by this little Leprechaun for $2 bucks to take a picture with Stella…

dsc01145

I had to get my money’s worth and snap two pictures! (I think Stella was taller than the Leprechaun!)

I was exhausted by the time we got home yesterday and barely had energy to go grocery shoppin’, but I managed!  We grabbed a late lunch at Get Battered Fish and Chips (Alex’s shop) so I didn’t have to cook dinner, other than making Stella some soup (woo hoo) We laid low last night and watched the movie Toy Story…I love that movie!

dsc00890

Arlin’s new thing at the park…he’d go round & round until he was dizzy when he got off!

dsc00892

Captain likes the big kid swing…

The weather was amazing today…as you can tell…I’m in shorts and sandals. It was in the mid seventies…ahhh gotta love it. Palmer Sioux and Abby came over for a bit and we took the tikes over to Platt Park, in the Radio Flyer. I love that wagon…so much fun.

El Presidente…

Nothing better than a NO school holiday for Mama to enjoy a little quality time with the Captain. I took Arlin Jack to the Denver Children Museum today after his nap. I swear every visit to this place (where we have a membership) is different. Arlin is more and more into everything around him each time… ugh, sometimes I think he is growing up too fast.

side note…our first love “the pacifier” OH… it’s going to be one BAD break up.

feb09-021

Outside our front door at home. The Captain was fully stocked up…snacks, cold milk, and Kitty…

feb09-022

feb09-023

After Mama hit her mile/s marker (to and around Wash Park 3 times) I cut across to the play ground area so little man could get out and stretch his legs and enjoy the sunshine too. Geez today was such a summertime tease! (63 degrees)

I’ll have to do some research. Cause I’d love to complete the marathon with Arlin in tow. But something tells me that’s not the best idea, or possibly considered down right child abuse…who knows?…’cause it will end up taking me around four hours to finish the race.

at the car wash

february0209-0081

The captain got kind of scared when we went through the car wash today. It didn’t even dawn on me that he’s never been awake when I go through the drive thru car wash, his normally sleepin’. Today after running to the gorcery store and to the bank I decided the car desperatley needed a bath so I headed to the usual spot we frequent…where the vacuums are powered by the vacuum gods…I swear you gotta be careful when vacuuming the inside of the car out. Those vacuums have sucked up important reciepts, a pair of my gloves (well one of em’… & what’s the point of only having one glove?- I had half a mind to just let the vacuum suck up the other glove…who knows maybe somebody filters the waste…I wonder of many things have been sucked up by that thing!?)

Anyways, Arlin started to cry  as soon as we entered the sud scrubbing part. I guess I never really noticed- that contraption is pretty loud and gets pretty friendly all up on the car and up the sides of the windows… I turned around and started singing to him and of course snapped a few shots….NO…I wasn’t driving, car was in neutral, on the  track thingy… ha.

Uncle Joel bought the Captain’s first Carhartt jacket and real cowboy hat.

at Uncle Joel & Kirk’s house…

I am so glad we finally made it to the Denver Rodeo/ Western Stock Show yesterday with Uncle Joel! (we missed you Kirk!)

Arlin got to check out lots of different animals up close and personal for the first time ever.

We saw some…Cows, Chickens, Ducks, Guinea Pigs, Horses, Ponies, Roosters, Alpacas…and so on! The Captain had the best view in the house the entire show…Uncle Joel carried him like precious cargo 6 feet high in the air. 🙂 I think Arlin was on sensory overload- it was a lot to take in, but he loved every minute of it, even with the sniffles. (I think we have a slight cold again) Thank you uncle Joel, you were a champ with handling the Boogers, Snot rockets…whatever you call them yuckies…

Next, it’s time for Mama to get back to the Rodeo to see some REAL Rodeo action!!! Can’t wait.
