The snow has not stopped falling. It just keeps coming! Arlin Jack’s school was closed for the day and Mama’s hair appointment was cancelled too, boo hoo. But we entertained ourselves inside with Arlin Jack’s play-doh tool kit. We also watched the movie The Tale of Despereaux a movie about a brave little mouse. We played with his wooden puzzle piece boards and we watched the neighbors blow snow off their sidewalks…then Arlin got a good laugh watching Mama through the living room window shoveling the 18″ off our front walk way for the pizza man! That’s right Arlin and Mama ate pizza for dinner! YUMMY!

standing  only five feet away, I literally have no clue how he got up in his high chair this fast.

IMG_4109

“Mama’s kitty!”

IMG_4111

“Arlin, what are you doing up there?!”

IMG_4112

giving kisses to kitty…

“Uh, oh”

Were hanging in there. Today was day-5 of house arrest. We took an early morning field trip to get Mama Starbucks after she suffered a massive caffeine withdrawal headache in the wee hours of the morning (at least that’s the conclusion we came to) Geez, it felt SO good to breathe in the cool fresh air on the way to the car, way too cooped up in the house.

We also left again this afternoon to go to the doctors office to catch up on a round of shots, including the flu vaccine *whew* Arlin does not have H1N1…just an upper respiratory infection that nurses say we’re through the worst part of, if everything goes well, Arlin should be back in school Monday.

Arlin was a total champ for the shots. He always amazes me, he’s such a trooper! I brought along some “cookies” (fig newtons) for the car ride home, he was so happy and totally distracted from his boo-boos.

Cabin fever. still sick, snotty nose, and a yucky cough. Day three of staying home…

IMG_4089

package came this morning! Arlin Jack scored an old classic Radio Flyer Trike from Grandpa Tom…woo hoo!

IMG_4091

I asked him if he was taking a pit stop to fix his seat… tool in hand, he’s ready to fix something.

IMG_4092

or watch a little more of his FAVORITE movie. I’m amused he’ll actually sit or stand and pay attention to anything as long as he will with this movie. I kinda get why parents use DVD’s….not that this will become a regular thing, but hey when snows falling outside and the kiddo’s sick, it’s about all we can do not to drive each other crazy.

IMG_4093

not sure what this face is all about.

IMG_4099

first the cowboy boots…then he had to have his hat….

IMG_4095

he puts the boots on himself. uh and the hat too.

IMG_4097

nice look you got goin’ on there buddy…

IMG_4090

cooped up. it’s not fun.

Tractor!

DSC02733

Biggest Tractor Mama’s ever seen. I was so excited to see this beast parked at a neighborhood construction site, cause I knew it would totally excite Arlin Jack. Tractor, sounds like “Cr-a-cker”…as Arlin says it, it’s his new repeat word (we’re talking broken record style)

DSC02735

after school on Monday I picked Arlin up and told him about the “B-I-G” Tractor. I said we’d go look at it on the way home, then Arlin reminded me as soon as we got in the car that I forgot his milk…I knew we were low at home anyways, so I thought I’d swing by Whole Foods on the way to the construction site to see the huge mountain of dirt and tractor! Little did I know he’d have a mini melt down calling for the tractor (cracker) at the grocery store! The cashier thought he was pretty cool. “You want a cracker? How bout a peanut butter cookie?” I told the cashier Arlin Jack was actually saying “Tractor” as I had promised to show him a huge one…and the cashier said “Ohhhh, well here ya’ go buddy here’s a sticker with a tractor on it!” And look I’ll put one on too! and now we’re twins!” It was pretty fun as the young cashier stood there also wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt. Arlin made another buddy. He’s getting pretty good at this. :)

DSC02737

Cookie in hand and Tractor sticker proudly on his chest…oh and cold milk in his sippy cup we were on our way to hunt down the bIG tractor! Arlin was so stoked to check it out. I had half the mind to let him crawl through the fence…there was a small hole we could fit through…but I thought it prolly wasn’t such a good idea afterall. (No need to teaching urban exploring just yet!)

DSC02738

some park time today…he’s feeling better and back to school tomorrow…hooray for Mama!

TRACTOR’s are cool!

Arlin Jacker’s woke up from his nap today with a slight fever. He just wanted to be held and books…I think I read every book in his room while we rocked together in his baby rocker. I finally broke down and gave him some Tylenol then after a snack he seemed to liven up a little…

IMG_3925

Tool time. Arlin Jack’s birthday present from Mama, his very own Black & Decker tool set! Looks just like Papa’s

IMG_3926

safety googles? check. snotty nose? check. steamy googles? check.

Mama wearing googles?

IMG_3932

check.

Oh, it’s amazing the things you thought you’d never be seen doing. Then you become a loving parent. And when my little guy is sick, he owns me.

IMG_3899

modeling his new outfit…(he put his own hands in his pockets, swear) Papa Loves! this outfit…

IMG_3900

watch out G-Q.

IMG_3902

then Mama had to come along and interrupt the fashion debut… she was too impatient to get a shot of the Moo-seY tee she made the Capt. it’s So cute to hear him say Moo-Sey.

IMG_3901

game over.

IMG_3911

Rockin’ his new pajamas from Pamaw…even his new Moo-seY slippers…these things are awesome and came in perfect timing for the freezing weather we’ve been having!

IMG_3912

his new favorite cereal, Annie’s Honey Bunnies…tastes pretty sugary to Mama.

IMG_3914

It snowed Saturday. Can you believe it…it’s not suppose to snow till Halloween. It was a cold weekend. And the Captain had a really runny nose so we stayed home Saturday and watched movies. Chad’s sick too. Sunday we went down to Castle Rock outlets to get the kids some winter clothes…Children’s Place- you can’t beat there prices!

TWooooooo-2!!!

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Today’s the official day. Arlin Jack turned 2yr.!!! (& Mama managed to get all emotional)

IMG_3875

bright and cheery after his nap time today the Captain opened a special birthday present from his favorite Montessori school teacher, Mrs. Lindsay!

IMG_3876

Lindsay shared with me today that Arlin plays with this a lot at school.

I was shocked to hear him him squeal the word PLAY-DOh!

IMG_3878

so excited! There are so many pieces to play with…

IMG_3882

yeah!!!

IMG_3880

open sesame! so focused…

IMG_3884

so animated, telling Mama all about his new digs.

We’ve been carrying the play-doh tool box around today…and of course we had to show Papa when he was finished working what it was all about too. Thank you Syd and Mrs. Lindsay!!

Boo!

“Ship!”

Rockin’ his new Birthday pajama’s a present from his buddy Salvador. I was surprised to see my little Captain fill out a size 3T so well, although I shouldn’t be surprised considering this guy’s appetite! What shall he be for Halloween? Is the big question! Taking suggestions…..saw an awesome shark costume at Pottery Barn Kids…but I just can’t justify $59.99 for a one day event….maybe I can make him one??

some serious back tracking…

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Mama’s sick so I’ll take my down time and try to rewind Arlin Jack’s fun for the past several weeks. May be jumbled (cause lord only knows my head feels that way!)

DSC02645

Arlin at my Mom’s house in AZ. I’d say emailing this picture to Papa might just have been the reason the Captain scored this RC car for his Birthday…

IMG_3862

slight size difference, but you know how Papa is when he does any shopping for the Captain!

DSC02649

checking out Tombstone…looking for the horses and a pair of Cowboy boots.

IMG_1119

and as you can see the Captain did just happen to score some Cowboy boots as an early Birthday gift from Pamaw! (along with some new Halloween skivvies)

DSC02666

Arlin made new friends. He really thought Ms. Jane and Mr. Bill were really neat. They even made him his own bucket with his name on it.

IMG_1106

shoot, the Captain scored all kinds of toys from neighbors! Even this “Tow-Mater!” truck he rode everywhere…

DSC02626

we went on walks to collect pine cones off the golf course,

DSC02621

we went swimming in 90 degree sunshine weather…

IMG_1097

we cuddled and watched cartoons…

DSC02696

we attempted blowing bubbles in Pamaw’s backyard, really we just made a mess.

DSC02634

we checked out a nearby park playground to blow off some energy…

IMG_1103

we talked to Papa and Stella on video skype…this is Arlin kissing Stella…too damn cute.

DSC02693

we took the Captain to a local mall for a ride on the fire truck…

DSC02710

spoiled by Pamaw’s back rubs…he now lifts his shirt and says “tickle pee-ease?!”….

DSC02712

AND…boy genius decided to stick a pea up his nose at dinner the night before we were scheduled to fly home. I’m not kidding this pea would not dislodge. With my Mom and I holding him down…a turkey baster, tweezers, q-tips, baby nose suction thangy, you name it…after a failed attempt with an ER visit I was bound and determined my Mom and I had to get it out. We laid him down on the bathroom floor and poured saline solution in the nostril that had the pea stuck in it then we blew air up his open nostril while trying to cover up his mouth. All this fussing really mad Arlin mad and right when we thought we’d give up Arlin let out a wail of a cry and coughed shooting the pea right out onto my arm! We laughed… now that the pea was out it was really quite funny.

DSC02715

Pamaw says ice cream always makes boo-boos feel better…I think the Captain agrees 100%!

We were really sad to leave Arizona. It’s never easy leavin’ Pamaw and her gracious hospitality…or her hugs, back rubs…and yummy snacks! Arlin misses his Pamaw! And Oscar the blimp too!
