Wiped out…we didn’t even make it all the way home from school and Arlin crashed out. I was talking to him, asking him how his day at school was… and he was right there with me in the conversation, talking and giggling, then all the sudden it got really quiet…

Next stop light I turned around to look…at this my friends…was it.

Poor guy, we kept Arlin up way past his bedtime last night to attend a workshop at his new Montessori school. I thought today might be kind of rough… and Mama was right.

newyearseve-09-002

The Captain has been spoiled once again. Our good friends Alex and Lola dropped off this Christmas present for Arlin the other day. Chad put it together laughing the entire time and just how awesome it was. The Captain can get on and off with ease and does laps around the dining room table on his new race car….

Watch out Laguna Seca!…we’ve got a Russell Racing Junior on our hands. (Can’t you just picture a race car with a pirate Jack-Rackam flag decal smeared on the side of it!)

My little picasso! Arlin Jack wanted to help me paint the onesie I was working on last night. I gave me a couple old tattered brushes to play around with. I t humored him for quite a while.

Pictures from last night…waiting for Papa to get home from work, I let the Captain cruise where ever he wanted to go in the down stairs part of the house. Yes, I followed him around like the Paparazzi to get these pics, man is he quick these days. How cute are his Grandpa pajamas! I saw them on clearance at Walmart of all places (trying to find magnets) I had to buy them even if they were a little white-trash-ish! with racer “Lightening Mc Queen” on them.ha. I think he looks adorable.

We had quite the scare earlier today. After a friend stopped by to pick up a custom onesie, we were playing in the kitchen area. I was cooking Arlin some food at the stove when I just got a funny “Mommy feeling” that something was wrong. Arlin was sitting on his knees in front of the back door watching Otis outside. I walked over and reached in his mouth to scoop out…a
* NAIL.*
Seriously!
I had NO clue how I knew he had this in his mouth. I just did. The Captain didn’t give any signs of weirdness or make any noises-maybe that’s it- he was just too quiet. I couldn’t believe with his little pincher’s he managed to wiggle this nail loose from the door molding. There was another nail sort of sticking out at Arlin’s level that I asked Chad hammer in when he got home from work last night.
It’s that Mommy feeling- you feel blessed to have at times like this- it saved us a trip to the E.R!!! And it’s that Mommy feeling you can never ignore.

Papa was busy watching Sunday football. Stella and Mama were making Christmas cookies. And Arlin was mad nobody was playing with him!

These are pictures of him yelling his new word…

“Ella!”

Captain Jack can’t quite say Stella yet, but he sure has figured out “Ella!”

It was awesome to hear it this past weekend- & I think Stella was super proud he could say her name, after all he only says about four words right now…mama, papa, dog, kitty….and now ella!

Seems like the Captain’s vocabulary has doubled this past week. We’re growing new teeth (molars) saying new words- and climbing all over the house!

My baby’s growing up so fast! I wish there was a slow motion button sometimes. 🙁

Stick em’ up!

Having a little fun with the Captain last night…

St. Jude stickers galore.

They were stuck all over his little fingers. He stormed around the kitchen for 15 minutes swatting his arms in the air trying to get them all off, then he gave up and plopped down on the floor and tried eating them off, occassionally stuffing his hand in Otis’ mouth for help!

ahaha…being silly with Arlin is fun.

Inspector Inquisitive…

Arlin Jack LOVES the vacuum! Everytime I get it out he has to inspect it up and down. You can hear the wheels turning round and round…like a little mad scientist. It keeps him entertained so I don’t mind. Seems as if everyday household items are far more fun for him to play with than the store bought toys.

Looks like we’re home bound today. Maybe a walk over to the park after our morning nap.

Fall Days…round here…

Arlin in his new custom knit cap from Betty, you have to sneak attack put it on- cause the minute he sees the balls- it’s off!
I raked all the leaves in the back yard this morning…Arlin ate dirt.
them purdy blues!
I love his frankenstein walk!
He tries riding his cart…it’s pretty funny…you’d think he thought his legs were longer!

I took Arlin for his ONE year check up on Monday. Boy it was not fun. 5 shots and a prick in big toe for led testing because we live in an old house. This was the first time getting shots he associated pain with the nurse who dealt it…He got so mad at one of the nurses (yes it took me and 2 nurses to keep him contained for the rounds of shots) he swatted at her!!! I’m not joking he tried to swat at her arm holding the needle. It was a bit funny… but the nurse didn’t think so. I don’t blame him- shots stink.
He got an excellent bill of health and the doctor was very impressed with his motor skills and walking. His 75% percentile across the board, hasn’t gained much weight but I guess that’s normal with him now walking.

Yesterday we took little man to the Denver Botanical Gardens at Chatfield to hopefully see the Pumpkin Patch. You snooze you lose I guess, cause these were the only handful of pumpkins we saw. The corn maze was pretty cool though, at least Chad and I thought so, I had never seen one, Arlin was more into the pony’s and picking rocks off the ground…but heh that’s what one year olds do right?! (Check out Arlin’s new tee…Uncle Joel and Kirk spoiled him Saturday big time at the Lucky Brand store…..I mean BIG time!)

Weekend tour…

Sunday we went for a bike ride all around town. First to Wash Park, then to Spicy Pickle for lunch where Arlin ate cheese pizza for the first time!

…poor Stella had to eat fast before her little brother pestered her for more!

After lunch we rode to a new park at Harvard Gulch. We watched this park be constructed while we went to the pool over the summer. It’s pretty cool with a rock climbing wall and six different slides for all ages.

I’ll post more pictures- we snapped a bunch this weekend.
