potty time=party time…

June 27th, 2010

I had to. Saw these “camp fire” oversized marshmellows at the grocery store and I did a very bad thing…I bought the bag. I thought to myself “how cool would this size marshmellow be for a yummy reward for going potty on the toilet at school??!”

Yes, they are HUGE, like the size of a closed fist huge…when I realized it was gonna take two air tight storage containers to house these bad boys…I thought, “W-O-W that’s a lot of sugar I’m gonna just gonna hand over to my kid”…

but I did it anyways…
IMG_0872 At first…he scowled at it…I honestly don’t even think he knew what it was, then quickly he said “Marshmellow Mum?!”
Arlin Jack- marshmellow

Nom! Nom!

IMG_0874
happy, happy, joy, joy……..

until Mama stops off at the store to run an errand on the way home from school and finds this happy face covered in slimy what’s left of an attacked marshmellow…and a boy who’s NOT so “mellow”? Omg….it was a train wreck. He was beside himself, covered in white goo…it was E-v-e-r-y-where, all over his face, his hands, his tee shirt, his shorts, the car seat, and ALL over the window! Yes, he finger painted the back seat window with marshmellow goo…just lovely!
I suppose I deserve it, right? I mean what was I thinking?! I didn’t even once think to turn around in the car while he was eating it…we were singing and having a gay old time all the way  to the store… or so I thought…Poor kid was a wreck, after wet wipe mayhem I decided to take Arlin Jack into the store with me…

yet another bad idea.

We left, after getting what we needed. Not even out of the parking lot the Captain was fast asleep.

I totally felt bad…I totally just knocked my kid out with a sugar high!?

Papa’s Day…

June 22nd, 2010

Saturday morning started early with our storage pod drop off….The captain’s face was priceless when we pulled the door up and he saw his Radio flyer trike and wagon…Oh yeah….I forgot about those :)

IMG_2442

And Sunday, well it was Papa’s Day…

IMG_2453

Arlin had Papa sit at his table while they ate Bagels and cream cheese- their fav!

IMG_2451

Arlin gave Papa his present…a pen holder he made at school along with a hand made card that Mama helped him with, it was pretty cute- we traced his foot…which almost didn’t fit on one side! this kid has some big paws (hand and footsie’s :))

nom, nom!

IMG_2450

Sunday night we went out to dinner to celebrate…Arlin was a champ very well behaved and he ate calamari, shrimp fresh rolls, satay chicken and most of the cucumbers and carrots of my vermicelli bowl. When I buckled Arlin into his car seat I whispered into his ear that he should say…Happy Father’s Day. This is what he said;

“I got it cover Mom-dont’ worry…” (he calls me “Mom” now…but only when he’s trying to be serious)

We drive for a bit, it’s quiet…then he goes;

“It’s Papa’s day, ‘dis my Father’s Day?!…I love you Papa!”

It’s moments like this that my world is still and feels perfect this IS what life is all about. I feel blessed to be this kiddo’s Mom.

color me bad…

June 16th, 2010

Actually there’s nothing bad about this potty trained boy! He is doing SO well lately. He had regressed a tad with the move and all the chaos, which I kind of expected would happen, But he is no longer wearing a diaper to school in the mornings or to the gym play area. We even fibbed and said he was 3yr. old and left him for an hour in the Ikea play zone…we got buzzed to come pick him up half way through his time slot…to our surprise it wasn’t because he pee’d his pants but because he was supposedly throwing balls at a little girl in the bouncy ball room…wonder who he gets that from (Papa!) After a firm scolding from Papa he returned to playing with no problems…In Arlin’s defense it was a room full of those small jumping balls and there was a tree in the corner of the room that you were supposed to shoot balls into different pockets for points. With Arlin being a short guy and all, when he threw the ball it never even came close to the tree…just close enough to hit the girl standing in front of him….oops.

IMG_2423
Arlin Jack scored some new triangle crayons and a sketch pad from Target.
IMG_2424
We sat together coloring and Arlin barked orders; “Shark, Mama…draw a Shark!” “Snake, Truck, Star, Dragon…..”
IMG_2425
I think he’s going through a growth spurt lately, longer naps (when he’ll take them) and his pants aren’t so tight around the belly…
IMG_2427
In between his raisins he’s reading to me “Arlin” “Mama” & “Papa”…he’s able to identify his own name when written…we’re still working the spelling of it.

Arlin also scored a huge box of clothes from Mimi (I think we’re set for summer, geez Mom, thank you)…he’s pretty excited to pick out his own shirt in the mornings, they each have something different on them, I’d say the race car shirt is his favorite as he’s tried to wear it three days in a row!

apple and the tree…

June 14th, 2010

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

IMG_0822

Arlin can finish a small meatball noodle soup…(mama can’t even finish one!?)

Peanut my Butter

May 27th, 2010

See… the Arseno Hall…OOO…OOO..OOO!!! I love the Peanut…MY….Butter part.

army guy…

May 25th, 2010

IMG_1800

The Captain’s going through a hat phase lately, he wants to wear one everywhere we go.

IMG_1795I’m lucky I guess…Arlin’s humored with inexpensive toys. He was exceptionally good for me the other day while running errands and being in the car for quite a while, I rewarded him with the choice of two toys one was $5 dollars and the other was $3…He totally took his time and sized up the inventory…a single spinner light thingy? OR a 55 piece army men set???
IMG_1792

Pack of army men it was. “I want dis one Mama, dis one! Massser Sarge, ooo, ooo,ooo yes sir!” It’s so funny he does this Arseno Hall impression as he salutes military style.
IMG_1793

We laid on the floor and lined em’ up and Arlin explained to Mama that Master Sarge’s were “Good Guys”

such a character!

pretty funny…

May 16th, 2010

Papa makes a video…this is one of Arlin’s favorite songs, he sings along; boom boom pow…the best snap shot is the underwear in the kitchen with his rain boots on backwards…gotta love it.

Ride it… Live it…

May 13th, 2010

Captain Jack’s new bomber jacket (from Master Sarge) came in the mail last week and I’ve been negligent to take pictures. Little side tracked I suppose.

But this jacket is SO cool! Master Sarge you picked a winner, and it’s plenty big enough for next winter….

Photo shoots aren’t as easy as they used to be. I remember the days I’d dress my guy up like a doll and perch him all over the house and take hundreds of pictures…Now, I’m baiting him with cookies (cornbread)

“Arlin, please…just humor Mama for a minute and stand up straight…”

He’s definitely learning he has leverage if Mama’s not on her A game!

IMG_1751

first shot…grrreat, this is gonna go well.
IMG_1752

“No cookie then Arlin…”

IMG_1753

“Ohhh.k”….he says…

IMG_1756

“You take my picture?!”

IMG_1761

“Cookie Mama?”

*note to self; cornbread + 2 yr. old boy= a mighty crumbly mess!

P.S. Mom- the Knex blocks arrived yesterday via UPS…today were building Mt. Rainer…’cause lord only knows we now have enough blocks to build fort knox for a small army! Thanks….he was SO excited when he accidentally set off the talking cowboy Elmo…pictures coming soon, promise. xo

Trucker Talk…

April 27th, 2010

Can you tell I’m proud of myself for learning how to upload videos all by myself???

I snuck up to capture this video, before dinner time…there was no training/coaching for him to say “master sarge”…he just does. His little .25 cent army men-one with a broken off leg are still right in line with kitty for being his favorite playmates. And he is still convinced Master Sarge is buying him a race car for Chriss-mas!

strong muscles and the crow…

April 24th, 2010

Arlin Jack…after a fresh hair cut…realizing he’s one, wearing a short sleeve shirt (not an everyday thing)… two, how strong his muscles are, three, he has Papa’s tool and four the crow took his cookie to the “trash truck!” I wish I was a video camera constantly capturing Arlin’s story telling…it never stops! It’s like the light switch has been turned on upstairs, he’s getting it, totally capable of carrying on conversations with Chad and I…it makes some of the terrible two stuff tolerable :)
